The value of constantly updating current skills and knowledge in the field of ERSEA is not just important but a necessity in improving access to services for eligible children and families. Since the passing of the 2007 Head Start Act, ERSEA has continued to be an area that organizations need to continue to strengthen. During the past several months, GAO reports illustrate problems and challenges such as determining eligibility in local programs ie suspected fraud in local programs as well as OHS lack of clearly defining key terms related to enrollment which impacts end of month enrollment reporting required by the Act.

The ERSEA Certification Review and Exam is a day and half session designed to prepare each participant for the comprehensive ERSEA Certification Exam. The Exam includes 100 questions that were designed to test each participants skills, knowledge and understanding of the ERSEA process. Upon satisfactory completion of the Certification process, the ERSEA Certification will be good for a two (2) year period. After 2 years, it must be renewed by the completion of a Review session and successful completion of an ERSEA Exam.

This training is designed to strengthen participants knowledge and skills that are required for meeting the requirements outlined in Part 1302 of the federal regulations regarding eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance (ERSEA) in Head Start. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the ERSEA regulations as well as the impact of the Head Start Act on eligibility and accessibility issues such as in the cases of Homeless and Over Income families.
